ΙΕΡΑ ΜΗΤΡΟΠΟΛΗΣ Botswana-συναντησεις του Σεβασμιωτατου Επισκοπου Botswana κκ Γενναδιου


His Eminence Gennadios Bishop of Botswana:
Visited the Hellenic Community of Bulawayo , Zimbabwe, and conducted the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St John. He visited the Missionary Centre of the Greek Orthodox Holy Archdiocese of Zimbabwe, St Augustine and spoke to the hundreds of faithful and the school children of the Mission who crowded into the Church and the surrounding area. He passed on to them all the blessing and love of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa and of His Eminence Metropolitan Seraphim of Zimbabwe.
On the next day, Monday 23rd May, he conducted the funeral service for Mr Savvas Savva, together  with priests from the Mission.
Also, His Eminence,  met with and had discussions with the following people, within the framework of his contacts with diplomatic and other Officials of Botswana:
1.       Her Excellency Mrs. Geneviene IANCU, Ambassador of the Republic of France in Botswana.
2.       Her Excellency Mrs. Annett Guenter, Ambassador of the Republic of Germany in Botswana.
3.       His Excellency the Ambassador of the European Union in Botswana.
4.       With His Grace Seane of the Roman Catholic Church
5.       His Grace Bishop Musonda Mwamba of the Anglican Church
6.       He communicated with His Excellency the Ambassador of England in Botswana.
7.       The Department of European Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Botswana and other Services there.
8.       His Eminence Archbishop James, Ambassador of the Holy See (Vatican) in South Africa, responsible for Botswana.
9.       His Excellency Mr. Anatoly, Ambassador of Russia in Botswana.
He told them all of the progress of the issues regarding the Greek Orthodox  Holy Diocese in Botswana, particularly the efforts for finding a piece of Land so that the building of the Orthodox Cathedral could begin immediately, given that the Sponsors from Cyprus had communicated with him and informed him of their intention to contribute financially to the building of the Church.
His Eminence also had telephonic communication with many representatives of the Television and Radio media as well as with journalists and reporters from magazines and newspapers from Greece, Cyprus and other countries and gave interviews regarding the progress of the Orthodox Church in Botswana and most especially the major issue of building a church, exclusively through the efforts of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and great Donors from Cyprus and Greece.
 Likewise, His Eminence informed all regarding the arrival of the Honourary Consul of Botswana in Greece, Mr Nektarios Polychroniou and his wife Angeliki Katsigianni, in Gaborone and the Reception to be hosted in their honour at the Holy Diocese on Saturday 4th June 2011.
